Berkley Schools Students Travel to Central Michigan University for an Orchestra Day

A student orchestra in matching maroon shirts performs on a stage in a concert hall with warm orange wood paneling and red and orange lighting. Violin, viola, and cello players sit in curved rows facing a conductor in the center, while audience members watch from the foreground.

On Friday, September 18, nearly 50 students from Anderson, Norup and Berkley High School in grades 8-12, traveled to Central Michigan University (CMU) for the CMU Honors Orchestra day. Students were separated into one of five different orchestras and spent the day on campus in rehearsals and sectionals with guest conductors and CMU music faculty. At the end of the day, each orchestra performed two or three pieces for an audience of students, family members, and school faculty.

This student experience was made possible through the support of the Berkley Orchestra Association by covering the cost of registration for each student and by building principals who covered the cost of transportation.
